Frames, together with their local partners has successfully completed the installation of a triethylene glycol (TEG) regeneration system for a Nigerian offshore gas gathering and compression platform. Part of a debottlenecking program, the expanded gas dehydration capacity will enable increased production from the offshore field.
Frames has designed and constructed the glycol-based gas dehydration unit for the offshore platform as part of an expansion of the platform’s existing dehydration system. The glycol-based gas dehydration system uses liquid desiccant technology to remove water from natural gas or carbon dioxide streams, thus preventing corrosion problems in downstream processes and equipment.
The platform’s previous glycol regeneration system has been replaced to allow increased natural gas handling capacity. Replacing the glycol regeneration package with a larger capacity package meant Frames had to produce a customised TEG unit geometry that was compact enough to be accommodated in the space available.
The Frames TEG package also included a lift gas contactor and gas/glycol heat exchangers. Frames has renewed the PLC based unit control and heater power control system, as well as supplying a gas dew point analyser to monitor the unit’s performance.

Frames has been awarded a long term goods and services purchase contract with ONEgas - the combined business unit of Shell UK and the Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij (NAM). The three year contract, with an optional two years extension, covers the offshore services & maintenance of all NAM platforms in the North Sea.
NAM is de-complexing the current portfolio of platforms by making converting manned platforms to normally unmanned installations (NUI) or to remove functionality from existing platforms to reduce maintenance costs. Under the contract, Frames will be preferred supplier for services and maintenance related to hydraulic systems on the NAM platforms including pressure and leak tests, hydraulic power units and wellhead control panels, for example.
Frames offers a complete Maintenance Management service for offshore platforms in the North Sea based on its expertise in flow control and hydraulic systems. For the NAM/Shell maintenance contract, Frames service engineers will use the "Walk to Work" (W2W) vessels the "Kroonborg" and "Kasteelborg" to access the platforms rather than helicopter. This will allow engineers to stay on-site for longer to complete their service and maintenance work.
Frames has worked with Shell and NAM for over 30 years on many onshore and offshore projects. The ONEgas contract further consolidates Frames’ Services & Maintenance activities in the North Sea.
