Golden Eagle Platform
Nexen Petroleum's Golden Eagle Area Development (GEAD) project includes development of the Golden Eagle and Peregrine (formerly Pink) fields. The fields are located in blocks 20/1, 20/1N and 14/26a of the North Sea, about 110km northeast of Aberdeen. Water depth in the region is 89-139m
The Golden Eagle, which is also expected to act as a future hub for tieback opportunities. A good example of this hub strategy at work is the Solitaire field, which was discovered in 2001 and acquired by Nexen and our Golden Eagle co-venture participants in 2010. Located four km northeast of Golden Eagle, Solitaire was a stranded discovery and not large enough to be developed on its own. By creating a tieback to Golden Eagle infrastructure, preparations are being made to bring Solitaire on stream, with first production expected in 2015.
